This week's lecture for Government Publications class included a link to the National Atlas of the United States. The large "Click here to make maps" button leads to a fun interactive mapping tool. My classmates and I have had a good time learning about coal fields and wilderness areas.
Here's a claim-to-fame for my home town:
Click on "Agriculture" to open up a list of check boxes and drop boxes related to crops. Click the check box for "Value of Nursery Crops Grown for Sale - 1997." Now click on the "Redraw the Map" button to get a colorful map of the US. Use the drop box at the top of the map to Zoom on the state of Missouri. That dark blue blob? It's Pike County, home of Louisiana, home of the well-known Stark Brothers Nurseries.
