Wanderings of a Librarian

Mosque library

I've been asked to consult with a mosque about setting up a library. Of course, I've forgotten every cool thing I ever saw about setting up a small library. So, I'm soliciting advice, resources, information, networking contacts, and anything else that might be of use for this project. Leave a comment or send email to my yahoo account, joyweesemoll. Thanks!     #

Hi Joy
What a great honor!

My first thoughts would be to find out who would use it (age range) and then if they want a combination of religious, political, and general fiction books.

I'd consult with Pudd N'Head Books because she can help you find some really good childrens and middle reader books for kids featuring kids of the Islamic faith. I know, as a woman of color, how important it is to me for my girls to find themselves in literature.

Shop Target for that $39 shelving unit (it has 9 cubbies) these are perfect to section out books!

Good luck!
