Spring 2005

My paper for Digital Libraries was on RSS (which took no one by surprise, I'm sure). I learned a great deal about the library-side view of RSS instead of just the user-side view:

Digital Libraries and RSS

When members of my study group for Research Methods class expressed interest in learning about RSS and news aggregators, I came up with this:

Bloglines for Librarians in Three (and a half) Easy Steps

Fall 2004

For the Government Publications class, we were required to write a paper answering the question "Should the Federal Depository Library Program continue to exist?" Here's my Position Paper.

One of the practicum requirements was to write a short final paper wrapping up the experience.

Summer 2004

For my Special Libraries class, I researched the St. Louis locations of primary source materials on the topic of World War II. The material seemed better suited to a web site than a paper (although I wrote the paper, too), so I created World War II: primary source materials in the St. Louis Area.

Fall 2003

A sub-theme of my first semester in library school was the subject guide--a list of resources for researching a particular subject. For Q301, Introduction to Information Technology, my final paper looked at the best practices of Web-Based subject guides. In Q420, Information in the Disciplines, we were each randomly assigned three subject guides to write for our fellow classmates. My subject guides were for Economics, Mathematics, and Interior Design. They were not written for the Web and were intended for fellow librarians rather than students--as such, they don't follow most of the best practices I put forth in my paper.
